This song didn’t begin as another story from my previous Day of the Dead experiences. It began with what happened after I wrote the others. What I thought was the end of the album became the beginning of one more song. I realized that once I write a song and listen to it repeatedly for a while, the story begins to release from my life. The memory is still there, but the energy surrounding it is different. It no longer feels active or connected to me in the same way. I didn’t think any of these stories were weighing on me. They didn’t feel unfinished, and I wasn’t consciously trying to let them go. I only recognized the weight after it was gone and I felt the unexpected lightness left behind. That became the unexpected gift of writing Follow the Sound . The other songs tell the stories....

The Story Behind the Album

Years ago, my daughter and I had a few experiences while living in Pittsburgh, PA. Our music at the time was a mix of electronic and classical music. We've since tried revisiting that same music, but it just wasn't what we remembered hearing.

This album contains the listening experience we thought we were having.

Thirty-two instrumental tracks, each with its own arrangement, movement and character. I kept experimenting and fine-tuning until it sounded like what I'd been hearing all those years ago.

This Is Quantum is an instrumental electronic album blending dubstep, electro-soul, psychedelic electro-funk, bluesy glitch-hop, future funk, grime and Baile funk, with strong classical, blues and jazz influences.

The music is dramatic throughout, moving between laid-back psychedelic grooves and wild, high-energy electronic arrangements. Classical instruments rise through sweeping, emotional swells and feverishly intense passages, while bluesy guitars move from aching emotion to passionate, electrifying riffs. Deep rolling bass, swinging funk rhythms and psychedelic electronic effects weave through the arrangements, creating layers of sound that are sometimes hypnotic and trippy, other times loud, powerful and intensely immersive.
