Year of the Scorpion
The Album
“Year of the Scorpion” is a 19-track alternative story album from Infinite Truth.
This album moves through one relationship as it changes state. It starts day one — hot, instant attraction. Then it catches fire. It moves through my struggle of not wanting a relationship, becomes joined lives, gets rowdy, gets serious, breaks, moves through rage, violence, separation, sadness and recovery.
Some songs include male vocals because he often talked about how strong and amazing our connection was, so those parts carry that side of the story.
The album does not stay in one sound or genre because the energy behind the story changes drastically.

Where the Story Starts
The story starts immediately.
There was no slow build. There was hot, instant attraction from day one, and the beginning of the album carries that heat. It was physical, active and close.
I was in my early 20s, and he was 13 years older than me. He quickly wanted it to head toward something more serious, more defined, and that was not something I was thinking about or looking for.
A major part of the album is my struggle with not wanting a relationship, and then my struggle with being in one.

Joined Lives
After not wanting a relationship, I chose the relationship.
I chose it because he made my world feel bigger, not restrictive. The relationship felt like it added movement, energy and space to my life instead of taking it away.
This is the part where the relationship becomes real between us. The attachment deepens. The shape changes. It is no longer something I can pretend is not becoming a life.

The Energy Builds
The relationship starts taking up more space. The songs carry more movement, pressure, body and chaos. This is the part where it is no longer just attraction or chemistry. It becomes part of life.
We were becoming more attached to each other and more attached through our lives. We were very physical and active and the relationship strong and powerful always moving through heat, distance, closeness, tension, pull and charge. The entire album lives inside that energy.

It Gets Serious
After the relationship becomes amazing and stays amazing, it gets serious.
The relationship is no longer just active, physical, high energy and part of our lives. It starts moving toward something heavier. More attached. More committed. More real.
This is where the relationship begins to feel like it has a future, not just momentum.

The Breaking Point, Rage and Violence
Then it breaks.
The break is not just one clean moment. It is the point where the relationship starts becoming everything I was afraid a relationship could become.
The album turns with it. The sound gets heavier because the story gets heavier.
This is where I felt the relationship started turning into what I call the five stages of relationship decline. What he felt as happiness and contentment felt like the death of the relationship to me.
Then the energy turns sharp. The relationship is no longer just breaking. It is reacting. This is where the album carries anger, pressure and the heat of things coming apart.
I wanted to downgrade the relationship, and that set off a series of events that ended like a scene from a horror movie — uncontrollable rage and violence that left me in physical recovery for many months.

Sadness and Separation
After the rage and violence comes separation and sadness.
This part has hard emotional weight. It is where everything that happened has to be felt.
It had to be felt because every breath was physically painful, and that pain, every breath, reminded me of the violence and everything lost. I wanted to only be glad I was alive and free, but I could not escape wanting the very thing that did this to me.
This part of the album carries what happens when the body is still recovering, but the mind has nowhere to hide.

Recovery
The album does not end inside the damage.
It moves toward recovery.
Recovery does not erase what happened. It is coming back into myself after the whole thing changed shape, broke open and ran its course.
The album is not only about the relationship. It is also about what was left after it.

The Cover and Title
“Year of the Scorpion” is the relationship story with a man whose zodiac sign was Scorpio.
It only lived within one year. It burned hard and fast.
The cover is everything him. Everything I was attracted to and, at the same time, everything that destroyed our relationship.
“Year of the Scorpion” is an alternative story album about attraction, resistance, joined lives, breakage, violence, sadness and recovery.
I will be writing the individual stories of all 19 songs here on the Infinite Truth site.
Stay tuned.
