“A New Day Has Dawned” — The Story and Sound Behind the Song

This song didn’t begin as another story from my previous Day of the Dead experiences. It began with what happened after I wrote the others. What I thought was the end of the album became the beginning of one more song. I realized that once I write a song and listen to it repeatedly for a while, the story begins to release from my life. The memory is still there, but the energy surrounding it is different. It no longer feels active or connected to me in the same way. I didn’t think any of these stories were weighing on me. They didn’t feel unfinished, and I wasn’t consciously trying to let them go. I only recognized the weight after it was gone and I felt the unexpected lightness left behind. That became the unexpected gift of writing Follow the Sound . The other songs tell the stories....

Moroccan Addiction

Beyond the Veil is a seven-track instrumental world-fusion album. Much like my album This Is Quantum, Beyond the Veil came from a few experiences while living in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to our electronic and classical music, my daughter and I became addicted to a Moroccan playlist.

We've since tried revisiting that same music, but once again, it just wasn't what we remembered hearing. We remembered something a little different.

So I started experimenting, weaving psychedelic and electronic influences into the Moroccan music until I'd created the music we'd experienced all those years ago.

The Sound Behind the Album

The music is built around Moroccan music, with psychedelic, electronic, baile funk and techno influences that give it its unusual character. Some tracks have a more flowing, mesmerizing quality, while others bring stronger dance rhythms and electronic energy.

This Is Quantum — A 32-track instrumental electronic album recreating a musical experience from years ago, blending dubstep, electro-soul, psychedelic electro-funk, bluesy glitch-hop, future funk and classical influences.

Follow the Sound — An eight-track album inspired by my Day of the Dead experiences, from the Boulder Theater to Old Town San Diego. Old-world musical influences blend with alternative, electronic and psychedelic sounds.

Leo Summer Fire — A five-track EP celebrating Leo season, with solar energy, fixed fire and the unstoppable force of Leo expressed through music.

Year of the Scorpion — A personal collection of songs following the experiences and changing dynamics of a relationship, with each track telling its own story through a mix of alternative musical styles.
